Idukki Dam is not just any ordinary dam - it's one of Asia's highest arch dams! Built between two big mountains called Kuravan and Kurathi, this 169-meter tall dam is a must-see place when you visit Kerala.
The view from here is simply superb. You can see the huge water reservoir, green mountains all around, and if you're lucky, some mist floating over the water. It's perfect for family outing, couples, and anyone who loves nature.
Monsoon Time (June to September): This is when the dam looks most beautiful. Water will be overflowing, mountains are fully green, and the weather is cool. But carry umbrella and raincoat!
Winter Time (October to February): Best season to visit. Weather is very pleasant, not too hot or cold. Sky will be clear, perfect for taking photos. This is the ideal time for family trips.
Summer Time (March to May): Bit hot, but still okay to visit. Water level will be less, so you can see more of the dam structure. Not much crowd during this time.
Nice garden with benches and walking paths. From here you get full view of dam and mountains. Kids will enjoy playing here. Entry fee is very less.
If you like seeing wild animals and birds, this place is good. You can spot elephants, bison, deer, and many types of birds. Need half day for this.
Big cross on top of the hill. You can see 360-degree view - dam, reservoir, mountains, valleys everything. Little climbing needed but view is worth it.
Small town near dam. You'll get everything here - hotels, shops, ATM, medical shop. Good place for having food and buying local items.
This is part of same Idukki project. Smaller dam but also nice to see. If you have time, visit this also.
Limited options. Better eat in Painavu or carry food with you.
